What is Strom?

Strom (meaning tree in Czech) Pilates began in 2017 in the living room of my home in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates where I welcomed my first clients while also teaching Pilates within the local community. As my passion and practice grew, I transitioned into a larger apartment to create my first dedicated home studio.

Today, Strom Pilates has found its home in a private house in Burlington, where I continue to offer a welcoming and personal space for movement and wellbeing. At Strom Pilates, the mission has always been the same, to inspire mindful movement, to bring strength, balance, and joy into daily life, and to support clients on their unique journeys.

Alongside traditional and contemporary Pilates, I also specialize in Clinical Pilates, working in collaboration with healthcare professionals to assist with rehabilitation, pain management, and safe, targeted exercise. Whether you are seeking recovery, strength, or simply the joy of moving well, Strom Pilates provides a supportive environment tailored to your needs.

Why the Tree Represents Strom Pilates

When I was thinking about the heart of my studio, I wanted a symbol that captured the essence of what Pilates offers, strength, growth, balance, and resilience. The thought of the evergreen tree inspired me.

Like an evergreen, it stands strong through every season, rooted yet reaching upward a perfect metaphor for the body and mind in Pilates. Its roots symbolize stability and support, while its branches reflect the freedom and expansion that come with mindful movement. The evergreen’s constant greenery reminded me of perseverance, renewal, and hope, values I aim to bring to every session.

For me, the tree represents not just physical growth, but personal transformation, resilience, and connection exactly what I want my clients to experience in the safe, nurturing space of my home studio. It’s a reminder that, like a tree, we can be stronger, adapt, and flourish through every stage of life.

Strom’ means ‘tree’ in Czech, a symbol of strength, growth, and resilience. Just like a tree, my Pilates studio is a place to root yourself, grow mindfully, and flourish in every season of life.

My Story

I’m Katerina Pereira, a certified STOTT PILATES instructor and Spiral stabilization trainer with a deep passion for mindful movement and holistic wellbeing. My journey began in the former Czechoslovakia with a love for sport and continued across borders, eventually leading me to the Pilates method in 2016 while living in Abu Dhabi. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of teaching a wide range of clients, including artists from Cirque du Soleil.

My training includes Mat, Reformer, Tower, Stability Chair, Total Barre, and specialized programs in pre/postnatal and injury rehabilitation. I’m currently expanding my expertise in Spiral stabilization method and as an Advanced foot health specialist because I believe a strong foundation begins from the ground up. 

Today, I teach from my home studio in Burlington and in various studios in and around Burlington where I help clients reconnect with their bodies, build strength, and move with confidence. Outside the studio, I love playing beach volleyball, paddleboarding, and adventuring with my family.
